Confirmed by Sony Pictures Television today, Breaking Bad is set to reign just a little longer as it has been announced that their shall be a Saul Goodman spin-off tentatively titled ‘Better Call Saul‘.
A discussion regarding the future of Bob Odenkirk‘s character has been undergoing for months but, during a joint statement made today by Sony Pictures Television, it has been revealed that a one-hour prequel to the acclaimed drama will “focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White‘s lawyer”. The show’s title is the cheesy attorney’s ad slogan, available to view below:
Breaking Bad‘s writer Peter Gould will be producing the show, but it is yet unclear as to whether the infamous Walter White (portrayed by Emmy-winning Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) will make a special guest appearance. It is also unclear as to whether henchmen Patrick Kuby (Bill Burr) and Huell Babineaux (Lavell Crawford) will be starring.
In lengthy discussions with creator Vince Gilligan, AMC spent time searching for the right tone for the new show, but no word on when the show will air has been confirmed. Although, it’s not likely before the second half of next year.
Until further news is confirmed, stay tuned.
